The Challenge
Our client is a leading insurance company. Within its digital sales environment, we are working on processes related to quote generation and policy management for products such as auto, home, property, and pet insurance, among others.
The digital process for an insurance product may involve multiple interconnected applications, back-end services, and business rules. Different authorization levels, discounts, and premium calculation logic may operate behind the quote-generation interfaces used by customers and brokers. For this reason, testing must not only verify the proper functioning of the interfaces but also examine the entire business process and the interconnections between systems.
The complexity is well illustrated by the launch of a new insurance product, where testing spanned from quote generation through policy issuance and policy management to claims reporting processes. The entire process involved nearly ten applications and several back-end services.
The Solution
We support the testing of insurance applications on multiple levels. In addition to manual testing, we participate in the preparation of automated regression testing, the coordination of changes related to releases, and test management that spans multiple applications and business processes.
Regression testing plays a key role in the monthly deployment cycles. We proactively identify the impact of new developments on automated tests and coordinate with automation specialists. For example, if the location or required status of a field changes, or if a business rule is modified, the change must also be reflected in the automated test suite.
Knowledge of the insurance domain and the applications is crucial to this work. This ensures that testing does not focus exclusively on individual functions but also covers processes that span system boundaries and the potential consequences of a change.
