We used Microsoft Power Platform to automate the creation of test reports for our customer in the industrial certification sector.

The Challenge
Our customer has been conducting structural and safety inspections and certifications of lifting equipment for several decades, including powered forklifts, cranes, racking systems, ramps, loaders, personnel lifts, etc. Their clients operate in a wide range of industries, such as the energy sector, the automotive industry, the construction industry, stage technology, and retail.
As an important step in the certification process, our client sought a solution to digitalize inspection records and automate report generation, as well as to coordinate and integrate existing web-based/electronic equipment registries, workflows, and databases.
The goal was to establish a smooth and reliable connection between the office (databases, admin, etc.) and field investigators. Another goal was to ensure that our client’s customers could also access the reports via a shared interface.
The Solution
DSS Consulting developed a Power Platform-based solution for this purpose:
- The application’s user interface is accessible in two ways: on tablets and on mobile devices
- Each project can be displayed in a card view, showing its history as well as related images and documents
- Another useful feature is the calendar, with views available at both the individual and team levels
- We integrated the system with the MS Dataverse-based data storage system
We used Power Apps for the development of the application itself, Power Automate for related automation tasks and Office 365 for user management. Later, we further accelerated the writing of minutes using generative AI.
Technology
Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), Azure, Microsoft Office
The Result
Thanks to this custom solution, the generation of inspection reports has become 30–40% faster, and the likelihood of human error has also been reduced.
